OUR STORY
The Cairo-Durham Rotary Club has been serving our communities and beyond since 1971. We are a diverse group of local leaders, professionals, and neighbors who believe in Service Above Self.
Through hands-on projects, fundraising events, and community partnerships, we work to improve lives throughout Greene County and around the world.

OUR HISTORY
The Rotary Club of Cairo, New York, was chartered in August 1971, with its first meeting held at Point Lookout. Since then, generations of Rotarians have worked to strengthen the local community while supporting Rotary International’s efforts to create a healthier, safer world.
Guided by the motto “Service Above Self,” the Cairo-Durham Rotary Club has supported Make-A-Wish projects, the Greene County Youth Fair, the Greene County Women’s Cancer League, Cairo-Durham Youth Basketball, D.A.R.E. Day, the Sprouts Summer Art Program, local food pantries, high school scholarships, and first-responder initiatives. The club also helped establish the Shoe Closet at Cairo Elementary School and developed first-responder addiction-services resource cards.
Internationally, the club contributed $15,000 toward polio vaccinations in the 1990s, helped send an ambulance to Africa, supported the drilling of new wells, and purchased a ShelterBox to provide emergency shelter for families affected by disasters around the world.
